Syzygy.
Yes, syzygy. It’s a great word if you’re playing Scrabble. It is usually reserved for the times that three or more celestial bodies line up perfectly.
But it now holds sway as a one-word summary of the Set Free Global Summit two weeks ago.
It was an amazing alignment of 868 attendees, representing over 300 organizations, which in turn have a reach of over 600,000,000 people! Pastors, counselors, missionaries, and many others came together to hear nearly 30 of the world’s greatest speakers on the issue of pornography, and to gain resources from over 30 different organizations providing solutions to the problem.
It was our objective to shake up culture a bit, and the testimonies of attendees like you confirms that we reached that goal. The stronghold of pornography is not quite as strong as it was before the Summit. Attendees have told us they went home invigorated, with an abundance of solution-oriented resources at their disposal.
So, what can you expect as follow-up? The information will start coming soon. Specifically, in the next few weeks, attendees can expect:
- Three-minute video summaries of every talk (each speaker gave this summary immediately after their talk).
- Links to other resources that will help you take what you learned and put it into practice.
A little later, we plan to provide attendees access to the videos of every talk (we’re looking to make them available to non-attendees too). A lot of people asked how they can connect with others to stay motivated in the fight against pornography, so we are also scoping out ways to help build online communities based on geography and topics.
Thank you to all for what proved to be great syzygy: a perfect alignment of people hungry for resources on pornography, experts with knowledge about the subject, and solution-oriented resources, all in a great venue.
Our group of 40 Unificationists who were at the summit came back to our home communities and had dozens of sermons and talks with parents and young people. We created several webinars and wrote articles in our newsletters both national and international which are read by tens of thousands and had many many conversations. 12 of us are taking a mentor training program this summer and we are beginning to hear that people feel hope in kicking this problem, some for the 1st time. God bless Josh and all of you who worked on and sponsored this event.
